How we value, buy, sell and stand behind the work — and what to do if something goes wrong.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "Bland & Co" mean Bland & Co Jewellers, a working jeweller and watch dealer trading from Hatton Garden, London EC1, United Kingdom. "You" means the person or business buying from us, selling to us, or asking for a valuation. Contact us by email at bland.jewellers@gmail.com or by phone on 07399 426893.
These terms apply to every interaction you have with us — in the showroom, by phone, by WhatsApp, by post, or through this website. If we agree something different in writing for a specific deal, that written agreement takes precedence for that deal.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
We offer free, no-obligation indicative valuations — over the counter, by photo, by post, or by booked consultation. An indicative valuation is our honest, real-time view of the trade price; it is not a formal IRV (Insurance Replacement Valuation), a probate valuation, or a written valuation report unless we expressly say so and provide one in writing.
Valuations are based on the piece in front of us and the information you give us. Hidden damage, undisclosed service history, undeclared provenance, or fakes presented as genuine will change the figure. We may revise a quote once a piece is in hand and inspected at the bench.
Spot-based quotes (gold, silver) are valid only at the moment they are given and move with the London fix.
Every piece we sell is authenticated in-house before it goes on the shelf. Descriptions, photos and reference numbers are given in good faith and to the best of our knowledge. Period pieces will show age — that's not a fault.
A sale is formed when we issue you a receipt or written confirmation of sale. Title in the goods passes to you on full payment received and cleared. Risk passes on collection or, where we ship, on delivery to your address.
We provide a written receipt and, where applicable, the original box, papers, certificates and service history we hold.
By offering us a piece you confirm that you are the legal owner (or fully authorised by the owner), that it is free of any charge, loan, or third-party claim, and that you have the right to sell it. We reserve the right to refuse any piece, for any reason, without explanation.
An offer becomes a binding sale only when both sides confirm in writing or sign the purchase receipt at the counter. Until then, either side can walk away.
As a UK precious-metals and high-value-goods dealer we are required under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds Regulations 2017 (UK MLR) to carry out customer due diligence on certain transactions. In practice that means:
We accept bank transfer (default for sales to you and settlements to you), debit and credit card (subject to limits set by our payment processor), and cash within the legal limits.
We do not accept anonymous cash above legal limits, and we will not split a single transaction across multiple smaller payments to avoid them.
In the showroom. Once you've inspected, authenticated and accepted a piece across the counter, the sale is final. Your statutory rights for faulty or misdescribed goods are unaffected.
Distance sales (online or by phone). Where you buy at a distance as a consumer, you generally have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, starting the day after delivery. Bespoke pieces, items made or altered to your specification, and pieces with broken security seals are excluded by law. To cancel, email bland.jewellers@gmail.com within the window; return the piece insured, in its original condition, at your cost; refund within 14 days of receipt.
Selling to us. Once payment has been made and accepted, the sale to us is final.
Faulty or misdescribed goods. You have the rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to a repair, replacement, refund or price reduction as appropriate. Contact us straight away — we'd rather hear about a problem than not.
Pre-owned watches are sold in tested working order at the point of sale. Any specific warranty we offer in writing on a given piece sits alongside (and does not replace) your statutory rights.

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising from them or from any transaction with us, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, save that, if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest will continue in force. Our failure to enforce a right on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
